At least 15 people were killed and 30 injured in New Orleans on New Year’s Day (Jan 1) after a man ploughed his truck into a crowd in the city’s French Quarter. The suspect, who was later killed in a shootout with the police, has been identified as 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar – a US citizen and army veteran. Authorities are looking into into possible links to terrorist organisations after they found an Islamic State flag, weapons and a potential explosive device in his truck.
