SINGAPORE: Two people were found unconscious inside a unit after a fire broke out at Synergy@KB, an industrial building in Kaki Bukit, on Thursday (Sep 19).

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said in a Facebook post that they were alerted to the fire at 25 Kaki Bukit Road 4 at around 12.55pm.

“Upon SCDF’s arrival, a unit on the fifth floor of an industrial building was on fire and the whole floor was smoke-logged,” it added.

Firefighters found two people unconscious inside a unit across from the one that was on fire.

SCDF said its emergency medical services personnel conducted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on both people and transported them to Changi General Hospital.

The fire was extinguished with two water jets, it added.

Mr Jordan Alsagoff, an owner of a carpentry factory located on level six of the affected building, told CNA his workers reported that there were people trapped on levels five and six and they had heard shouts for help.

“I heard from my workers who were taking a nap at the factory after lunch … They called me and said: ‘Boss there’s smoke coming in from the window,'” he said.

“So I told them to close the windows, turn off the power, shut the place down and leave.”

Mr Alsagoff said his workers were among the first few to evacuate from the building and they were all safe.
