Tensions in the Middle East have fuelled fears of a wider war. Israel has vowed to make Iran “pay” for its second firing of missiles into its territory this year. China has urged world leaders to play a constructive role and stop further deterioration of the situation in the Middle East. The US said it was discussing a joint response, and that it would work with Israel to ensure Iran faced “severe consequences”. Iran has warned the US not to get involved. Its supreme leader Ali Khamenei has blamed Washington and its allies for escalating regional tensions. Trent Murray reports from Tel Aviv.
