Pakistan’s capital is in lockdown, ahead of protests planned by the political party of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan. All entry and exit points to Islamabad have been blocked with police barricades and shipping containers. 4,000 police officers have been deployed across the city. Schools have been shut, and the government has cut off access to internet services. Khan called on his supporters to gather in large numbers in the city, despite a ban on public demonstrations. This is the latest in a series of protests over the last month, demanding Khan’s release. Hira Mustafa reports.
