The woman at the centre of a rape trial in France that has shocked the world has taken the stand in a trial. She said her life has “collapsed into nothingness” and denounced the “immeasurable” betrayal by her now former husband, Dominique Pelicot. More than 50 men are accused of raping Gisèle Pelicot while she was unconscious, after having been repeatedly drugged by ex-husband over a decade. Ms Pelicot could have requested for the trial to stay behind closed doors with the explicit details and video evidence out of the public eye, but instead, she said it’s not her shame to bear, but her rapists. Ross Cullen reports.
