Israeli strikes in Lebanon have rocked Beirut’s southern suburbs in one of the most intense nights of attacks. Lebanon’s state news agency said Israel launched 17 airstrikes over a few hours. Hezbollah has retaliated by launching a barrage of rockets into northern Israel. Top US diplomat Antony Blinken — who is on his 11th trip to the Middle East since the war in Gaza erupted a year ago — said he expects negotiators to get together to discuss a ceasefire in the coming days. Meanwhile, an ongoing summit in the French capital aims to rally support for Lebanon and mobilise humanitarian aid. Ross Cullen reports from Paris.
