Israel has formally notified the United Nations that it is cutting all ties with the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), after lawmakers voted to ban the organisation. The decision has sparked global condemnation, including from key Israeli backer, the US. Washington has described UNRWA’s role as “irreplaceable” in Gaza and the Israeli-occupied West Bank. Israel said it will continue to work with international partners, including other UN agencies, to ensure the delivery of aid into these areas. Sarah Coates reports from Tel Aviv.
