Defending champion Jannik Sinner won the first set 6-3 against Australian eight seed Alex de Minaur in their quarter-final clash.

0834 SONEGO FALLS SHORT AGAINST SHELTON

Shelton edged Sonego 6-4 7-5 4-6 7-6(4) after a nearly four-hour battle on Rod Laver Arena to advance to his first semi-final at Melbourne Park.

Up next for Shelton, who was a semi-finalist at the 2023 U.S. Open, is either defending champion Jannik Sinner or home favourite Alex de Minaur.

Sonego won the third set 6-4 against Shelton to keep his semi-finals hopes alive after the American had clinched the first two sets.

Shelton took a two-set lead against Sonego after the 22-year-old American clinched the second 7-5 to move closer to a first semi-final at Melbourne Park.

0423 SWIATEK CRUSHES NAVARRO TO SET UP KEYS SEMI-FINAL CLASH

Swiatek continued her bid for a first crown at Melbourne Park as the Polish second seed stormed to a 6-1 6-2 victory over Navarro.

While the first set was one-way traffic, the second was level at 2-2 before former world number one Swiatek pulled away to seal the win in just under 90 minutes.

Iga Swiatek moved a step closer to a second semi-final at Melbourne Park when the five-times Grand Slam champion took the opening set 6-1 in just 35 minutes against American eighth seed Emma Navarro on Rod Laver Arena.

0233 KEYS OVERCOMES SVITOLINA TO BOOK SEMIS BERTH

Keys battled from a set down to beat Svitolina 3-6 6-3 6-4 and advance to the semi-finals for the third time at Melbourne Park.

The win against Svitolina also stretches the 29-year-old’s winning streak to 10 matches.

American 19th seed Keys won the second set 6-3 to force a decider in her quarter-final against Ukrainian 28th seed Svitolina.

Elina Svitolina took the first set 6-3 in her quarter-final against Madison Keys in the early match at Rod Laver Arena.

The winner will play either Emma Navarro or Iga Swiatek for a place in the final.
