European leaders have unveiled new proposals that open the door to deporting illegal migrants to a third-party country. The move comes amid rising support for right-wing parties across Europe and calls to curb irregular migration. The measure now has to be adopted by a divided European Parliament and polarised European Council before it can come into force. According to the European Commission, four out of every five people denied the right to stay in the European Union fail to leave. William Denselow reports from Brussels.
