TOKYO : Bank of Japan policymakers discussed in what conditions the central bank should raise interest rates further after deciding to hike short-term interest rates to the highest in 17 years, minutes of their January meeting showed.

One member said that the policy interest rate hike discussed at this meeting would not tighten financial conditions, but would rather be an adjustment in the degree of monetary accommodation under accommodative financial conditions, the minutes showed on Tuesday.
