SINGAPORE: Commuters travelling between Queenstown and Boon Lay MRT stations on the East-West Line experienced delays on Friday (Apr 4) afternoon.
Train operator SMRT first told commuters at 1.31pm to expect an additional 20 minutes of travel time between the two stations in western Singapore due to a track fault.
In an update at 3.45pm, SMRT said that the fault had occurred on the westbound track of the East-West Line between Jurong East and Clementi stations at about 1.10pm.
“Due to adverse weather conditions and lightning risk, our staff were unable to access the track immediately to investigate the fault,” SMRT said.
“With the weather now improved, our engineering team is on site and working to rectify the issue,” SMRT said.
At around 4pm, SMRT said that normal train services were progressively being restored. Free regular bus services ceased at about 4.11pm, it said later.
