Muzika Ekstravaganza will be making its long-awaited return on Saturday (Feb 4), boasting a roster of top artistes from both Singapore and Malaysia.
After a three-year hiatus, Mediacorp and Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) will once again come together to collaborate on the two-hour variety special.
Celebrating its 14th edition this year, the highly anticipated event will be hosted by Singapore’s Suzairhe Sumari and Malaysian actress Nabila Huda.
Running on the theme “Duo Hits”, the show promises to be filled with performances featuring evergreen favourites, iconic tunes from classic Malay cinema, as well as breathtaking fusion dance displays.
Apart from the legendary pairing between the pioneer of Singapore’s rock scene Ramli Sarip and veteran Malaysian songstress Khatijah Ibrahim on the duet Doa Buat Kekasih, audiences will also be treated to performances by Singaporean artistes Elfee Ismail, Fariz Jabba, Hazrul Nizam, Jatt Ali, Rahila Rashun, Syakirah Noble and Yung Raja.
Joining the illustrious line up are Malaysia’s Akim Ahmad, Francissca Peter, Hael Husaini, Haziq Rosebi, Siti Nordiana, Stacy Anam, Sonaone and Suki Low.
Expect traditional tunes like Tari Tualang Tiga from classic Malay movie Sumpah Orang Minyak, Hati Ke Hati from classic Malay movie Anak Buluh Betung and Zapin Bunga Hutan from classic Malay movie Bawang Putih Bawang Merah, alongside medley duets and rap performances.
There’s also Mad Blessing – an original duet by Fariz Jabba and Yung Raja
Produced as part of the Memorandum of Understanding Concerning Co-operation in the Field of Broadcasting between Singapore and Malaysia, Muzika Ekstravaganza 2023 is billed as the event to strengthen the close ties between both countries.
