SINGAPORE: The trial of former transport minister S Iswaran will begin on Tuesday (Sep 24), eight months after he was first charged with multiple offences including corruption.

The 62-year-old is the first political office-holder in Singapore to be tried in court in nearly five decades.

Iswaran faces 35 charges, accused of obtaining more than S$400,000 (US$310,000) worth of items during his time as a public servant. He has pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
