A moment of silence in Germany, as thousands of mourners gathered to pay tribute, days after a car-ramming attack at a Christmas market in Magdeburg. Five people died, including a nine-year old boy. Grief-stricken civilians said they fear the rampage could deepen divisions and fuel anti-immigration sentiment. Meanwhile, Germany’s interior minister and several intelligence officials are scheduled to testify before a parliamentary committee next week, amid mounting criticisms over potential security lapses. Officials have admitted that they received multiple tip-offs last year about Saudi-born Taleb al-Abdulmohsen, who now faces multiple murder charges. Olly Barratt reports from London.
