A 16-month-old baby boy in Bandung, Indonesia, weighs 27kg, wears diapers in size XXXL, and fits into his father’s clothing.
According to the Daily Mail, Muhammad Kenzi Alfaro is so big that he weighs the same as an eight-year-old child.
The average weight of a 16-month boy usually falls between 8.3kg and 13kg.
When Kenzi was born, he weighed about 4kg, larger than average, but his weight only grew in the last year, reported The Sun.
Wears father’s clothes and struggles to sit by himself
Pitriah told the Indonesian news media outlet Liputan 6 that Kenzi’s father’s clothes can fit the boy as well.
Toddler-sized clothes are too small for him, so Kenzi has to wear clothes that a 10-year-old would wear.
In a video on Newsflare, the mother struggled to help her son sit upright and stand on his feet.
Pitriah also said Kenzi’s weight made it difficult for her to carry him.
He cannot even sit or stand on his own.
Even the stroller cannot support Kenzi’s weight.
Speaking to another Indonesian news outlet, Detik.com, Pitriah said Kenzi could not talk, walk, or crawl like other children his age.
Gained weight weekly
According to Liputan 6, Pitriah noticed abnormal weight gain when Kenzi was six months old.
In a week, Kenzi would gain weight by 1kg to 2kg.
“As I have no breast milk, I gave him formula milk which he drinks four times a day,” Liputan 6 reported her saying.
Detik.com also revealed that Kenzie consumed sweetened condensed milk as a substitute for breast milk as his mother had a history of gallstones and has not breastfed Kenzie since his birth.
Kenzie’s family also faced financial difficulties, so sweetened condensed milk is a more affordable substitute.
Kenzie would consume diluted sweetened condensed milk.
Health checks
During a routine health checkup in December 2022, Kenzi weighed 26.9kg and was 75cm tall.
According to the Head of the Public Health Division at the Bekasi District Health Office, Kenzi has since been referred to Ananda Babelan Hospital.
The Indonesian Minister of Health, Budi Guandi Sadikin, also responded to this situation, Liputan 6 reported on Feb.23, 2023.
The health minister has ordered medical officials to monitor Kenzi’s case and provide treatment.
