Three Singaporeans aged between 22 and 32 have been arrested for suspected drug trafficking offences after a Mar. 13 raid.

The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said in a press release that more than 1.3kg of drugs with an estimated street value of S$118,000 were seized.

This included about 350g of ‘Ice’, 778g of cannabis, 235g of ketamin, 41 ‘Ecstasy’ tablets, 100 Emrimin-5 tables and 50 lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) stamps.

Offensive weapons were also found during the operation.

CNB officers raided a unit in Ubi

Following up on information regarding a 32-year-old man’s suspected involvement in drug trafficking activities, CNB officers raided a unit around Ubi Ave 1.

There, officers arrested a 32-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman.

The majority of the drugs seized and various drug paraphernalia were taken by CNB officers from the unit.

In addition, a large number of weapons, including an airsoft pistol, machetes, swords and knuckle dusters, were seized.

The police are investigating the 32-year-old man for possession of offensive weapons.

Another 32-year-old man was arrested in Bukit Timah

During the operation, another 32-year-old man was arrested near Bukit Timah.

5g of ‘Ice’ and drug paraphernalia were recovered from him.

Deputy Director of Intelligence Division, Stanley Seah, said that the operation on Mar. 13, 2023, was an example of the dangers CNB officers face every day.

“Drug traffickers may be armed, increasing the risk to our officers. But this will not deter us,” said Seah.

“CNB officers will remain steadfast in our efforts to prevent drugs from flowing to the streets.”

Investigations into the drug activities of all arrested suspects are ongoing.

Under Section 5 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1973, it is an offence for a person, on his or her own behalf, or on behalf of any other person, whether or not that other person is in Singapore, to traffic in a controlled drug, offer to traffic in a controlled drug; or to do or offer to do any act preparatory to or for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug.

If a person is found guilty of trafficking more than 250g of methamphetamine or 500g of cannabis, the person may face the mandatory death penalty.
