A new regional airline has arrived.
On Mar. 21, a new Thai carrier named “Really Cool Airlines” was launched by its CEO Patee Sarasin, The Nation reported.
The airline will be announcing its flight routes by end-June 2023 and is expected to commence operations by the year end.
Really cool future
Sporting a slogan of “We Fly the Future”, the airline will be somewhere between a luxury and a budget carrier, according to Patee.
It will also focus on flying international routes.
The CEO expressed his anticipation in introducing the Really Cool Airlines for “an extraordinary experience to passengers”.
He also promised better safety and service standards, Thaiger reported.
What’s so cool?
Patee is the former CEO of Nok Air and has worked with blockchain pioneers to establish the new airline company.
According to Thaiger, the airline company began in a virtual world as game and eventually became a long-haul airline in reality.
“Really Cool Air is the world’s first GameFi airline project invented for players to earn, learn, play and win.”
“Our ambition is to establish a brand new airline in the real world, which is governed by the crypto native citizens from our Really Cool Air GameFi.”
The airline is expected to submit their application for an air operating licence (OAL) in the upcoming months.
Bangkok governor Chadchart Sittipunt welcomed the launch, noting that the new airline would help to boost post-pandemic tourism to Thailand, according to The Nation.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand is aiming to attract 30 million tourists in 2023, which would make up 80 per cent of the 39 million tourists that visited the country in 2019.
To reach the target, the number of airlines and flights to the country must be ramped up, said the authority.
