The team suffered its third straight defeat at the Al Bayt Stadium after a 0-2 loss to the Netherlands.
The Qataris had already been eliminated after their 3-1 loss to Senegal earlier in the week and failed to secure a consolation draw or win in their last match.
The result sends the Netherlands into the last 16.
The defeat means Qatar, current Asian Cup champions, become the first World Cup hosts to lose all three of their group matches.
Qatar was making its tournament debut.
They scored one goal and conceded seven in this campaign.
The gulf nation had spent the past decade preparing for the World Cup.
Qatar joins South Africa as the only countries to get knocked out of the World Cup in the group stage.
South Africa, which hosted the World Cup in 2010, tied Mexico to open that World Cup.
However, its win over France in the final group match was not enough for it to move on as Mexico advanced via goal difference.
The Netherlands are a three-time runner-up at the World Cup, finishing third in 2014.
They failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.
