Speaking to Mothership, the 20-year-old, surnamed Lai, shared that her unusual adventure took place approximately a month ago on the North-South Line (NSL).
According to Lai, she missed the announcement reminding passengers to alight at Marina South Pier as she was tired from work and was listening to music via headphones on her ride.
By the time she realised she had forgotten to alight from the train, it was already travelling inside a tunnel, leaving her with no clue as to where she might even be.
She had also boarded the wrong train that day, thinking that it would terminate at the other end of the line (Jurong East) instead.
Fortunately, an MRT staff who was also onboard noticed Lai as he was walking towards her carriage.
He reassured Lai that the train would soon return to Marina South Pier before heading towards Jurong East.
Noticing that the passenger was slightly overwhelmed by the situation, the staff reassured her in a lighthearted tone that the train would return to Jurong East eventually, and all she needed to do was to wait patiently.
Lai told Mothership that she felt better after speaking with the staff, who even used the public announcement system to tell her to relax.
Eventually, the Tiktoker made it to her home in Canberra safe and sound—without listening to any music.
Moral of the story
In a follow-up Tik Tok uploaded on Mar. 29, Lai asked her viewers to learn by her example.

She also added to Mothership that she hoped others could be more attentive to their surroundings at all times after reading about her unusual adventure.
