Canadian rock band Sum 41 has cancelled its upcoming Asia shows in Singapore, Japan, South Korea, and Thailand.
The band was slated to play here on Mar. 22 as part of LAMC Productions’ Singapore Rockfest line-up.
Family emergency
In a Facebook post addressed to their fans in Asia, Sum 41 said that the cancellation was an “incredibly difficult decision” due to a family emergency.
“We appreciate your understanding as we take this time to be with our families,” the band said.
Best known for its early 2000s hits such as “Fat Lip” and “In Too Deep”, the five-piece band comprises vocalist Deryck Whibley, bassist Jason McCaslin, rhythm guitarist Tom Thacker, drummer Frank Zummo, and lead guitarist Dave Baksh.
LAMC Productions reposted the statement on Instagram and added that they are “committed to bringing them to Singapore as soon as they are ready”.
It clarified in the comments that a refund will be issued.
However, no further details were given.
Previous cancellations
The Singapore Rockfest has faced multiple postponements due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
It was later set to take place in late 2022 to 2023.
Another of the bands on the lineup, Slipknot, cancelled its Singapore concert in December 2022.
