Three years ago, Russian forces invaded Ukraine in what the Kremlin called “a special military operation”. The invasion of Ukraine led major world powers to unite and slap sanctions on Moscow, while handing Kyiv unprecedented levels of aid. But today, Ukraine’s relationship with what used to be one of its staunchest allies – the US – hangs in the balance under a new administration led by Donald Trump. Meanwhile, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu is making a working visit to Indonesia this week. Reports indicate that Mr Shoigu will also visit Malaysia after Jakarta.
