A growing number of women in South Africa are learning to use guns to protect themselves against gender-based violence.

On average 15 women are killed every day in the country, a rise of almost 34% on last year.

On 21 November, women in South Africa will be staging silent protests with calls to stop any economic activity for 15 minutes because of what they say is government failure to tackle the issue and asking it to be declared a “national disaster”.
