At least seven countries are awaiting letters on the new US tariff rates they can expect if they do not get in line with Washington’s demands on trade. US President Donald Trump gave no further details on his social media post, but his Commerce Secretary suggested that 15 to 20 letters could be sent in the next two days. The US president has stressed he will not extend the deadline for deals or tariffs set for Aug 1, which many see as a push back of the deadline originally set for Jul 9.
