SINGAPORE: Morning commuters on Monday (Feb 10) were hit by a train delay on the North-East Line due to a signalling fault at Buangkok MRT station.

SBS Transit said additional travel time of about 30 minutes may be expected, up from an initial 15 minutes.

In a Facebook post at 7.05am, the transport operator said free regular bus rides are available at Serangoon, Hougang and Sengkang bus interchanges.

Free regular and bridging bus services are also available at designated bus stops near affected stations between Dhoby Ghaut and Punggol Coast stations.

“You may wish to use other MRT lines if you are at HarbourFront, Outram Park, Chinatown, Dhoby Ghaut, Little India or Serangoon stations,” it said at 7.30am.

SBS Transit also advised commuters at Serangoon station to take the Circle Line if they are heading to Harbourfront station.

“If you’re at Kovan to Punggol and heading to Dhoby Ghaut, please take the Circle Line from Serangoon to Bishan and transfer to the North South Line.”

Those at Kovan to Punggol and headed to Little India are advised to take the Circle Line from Serangoon to Botanic Gardens and transfer to the Downtown Line.

Last Friday, train services on the North-South and East-West lines were also delayed due to a derailed engineering vehicle.

The incident took place in the morning and prevented some trains from leaving Bishan depot. The tracks were eventually cleared in the evening.
