US President Donald Trump has issued an ultimatum to Hamas, warning that there will be “hell to pay” if all remaining captives are not released. He also suggested that he was sending Israel weapons to “finish the job”. This comes hours after the Trump administration confirmed that it held direct talks with the militant group in Doha, along with mediators from Egypt and Qatar. Hamas has said Mr Trump’s threats are complicating efforts, and that it would encourage Israel to back out of the ceasefire deal. Nick Harper reports from Washington DC and Giles Gibson reports from Tel Aviv.
