Top US and Russian officials are set to meet in Saudi Arabia to discuss a summit between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The talks mark the first high-level, in-person discussion between Washington and Moscow in years. The Kremlin said the talks will also focus on a “possible” truce in Ukraine. Ukraine is reportedly not expected to be involved in the discussions. Mr Trump’s push for a peace deal has sparked tensions, as European allies and Ukraine were not consulted beforehand. Simon Marks reports from Washington DC and Ross Cullen reports from Paris.
