The Mighty Chittorgarh Fort

There is no date or event in history that signifies the springing up of this fort in Rajasthan.

It is however largely agreed upon that this fort was built by the local Mori ruler, Chitrangada Mori in the 7th CE, after whom the fort was named.

How Big Is The Fort?

When the fort was being ruled by the Mewar Kingdom, it’s believed that Allauddin Khilji laid siege to the fort to capture Rana Rattan Singh’s wife, Rani Padmini.

However, after Rana was killed, Rani Padmini committed Jauhar along with other women in the palace to save their honour.
