If you want to make the famous Kunafa at home, then here’s a recipe by digital creator Rafia Mazhar (@rafmazcooks) that you can bookmark to recreate the delicious dessert.

¾ cup water 1 cup sugar 1 tbsp rose water 1 cup milk 1½ tbsp cornflour 1 tsp vanilla 1½ tbsp sugar 200 g mozzarella cheese grated 300 g kataifi pastry (kunafa dough) ⅓ cup ghee 1 pinch orange food colour

1. Take some water, sugar, and rose water in a pan. 2. Cook till sugar dissolves, set it aside.

3. Next, mix some milk, cornflour, vanilla extract, and sugar in a pan. 4. Cook till you get a creamy consistency.

5. Separate the kunafa dough by hand and roughly cut it into small pieces. 6. Add ghee and orange food colour and mix it well.

7. Transfer half the dough into an 8-inch round greased tin pan. 8. With the back of a flat glass, flatten it out well along the edges as well.

9. Now, add half the mozzarella cheese followed by the prepared filling. 10. Then add the remaining cheese. 11. Cover with remaining kunafa dough and drizzle some ghee on top.

12. Bake in a preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes until the kunafa is golden brown. 13. Take it out of the oven & pour all the sugar syrup on top.

14. Flip the Kunafa and garnish it with some chopped pistachios and rose petals. 15. Enjoy with ice cream.
