Nine Nights Of Navratri

This is a nine-day festival that’s devoted to Goddess Durga, an aspect of Adi Shakti. The nine-day festival celebrates nine different forms of Goddess Durga.

Worshipped on day 1 of the puja, she is the daughter of King Himavat, ruler of the Himalayas.

1. Maa Shailputri

The second form of Goddess Durga, she is known for governing Lord Mangal, the provider of all fortunes.

2. Maa Brahmacharini

She is worshipped on day three of the puja, and is associated with peace, serenity, and purity.

3. Maa Chandraghanta

She is worshipped on the fourth day of the Chaitra Navratri and is known for having eight hands.

4. Maa Kushmanda

The fifth form of Navdurga, she is the mother of Skanda, an alternate name for the war god Kartikeya.

5. Maa Skandamata

She is the fierce form of Goddess Durga who is also known as Mahisasurmardini, as she killed the demon Mahisasura.

She is the fiercest form of Maa Durga and is known for saving her devotees from negative forces.

7. Maa Kalaratri

The eighth form of Navdurga, she is worshipped on the eighth day of the puja and her favourite flower is Night Blooming Jasmine.
