In the new year, 1 in 5 global travellers will enjoy Hurkle-Durkling, the Scottish phrase for intentionally lounging all day in bed, while on vacation.

Almost half of global travellers avoid setting an alarm on vacation and about 2 in 5 travellers choose hotels where they think they can achieve a better night’s sleep.

Younger travellers, around 30% of Zillennials, love Hurkle-Durkling even more than Gen X and Baby Boomers (11%).

Another sleep trend is Sleep Divorce and nearly 63% of travellers admit to sleeping better when sleeping alone and 37% of them prefer to sleep in a separate bed from their partner when travelling.

The report shows that 70% of luxury travellers choose hotels with sleep-centric amenities, including ‘Wellness Rooms’.

Also, 1 in 4 travellers will book a spa or wellness treatment to enhance their sleep while on vacation.
