Muddhey Palya is a North Karnataka preparation of toor dal, coconut, methi and green chillies. nids.lid has a delicious recipe for this.

-2 tbsp of Oil -1 tsp of Mustard seeds -1 tsp of Haldi -1 cup of Chopped Methi -3/4 cup of Cooked Toor dal -1/4 cup of water(adjust accordingly) -1 tbsp of Green Chilli paste -Salt to taste -1 tbsp of Jaggery -1/4 cup of Soaked Tamrind water -3 tbsp of Besan -3 tbsp of Fresh grated coconut -1/4 cup of Roasted Peanuts -1 tsp of Jeera

First, add coconut, roasted peanuts and 2 to 3 green chillies together to make a paste.

Then, take a pan and add oil to it. Once the oil heats, add mustard seeds, chopped methi and turmeric and saute for 3 to 5 minutes.

Add the cooked dal to this pan along with a bit of water and mix well.

Next, pour the blended mixture along with jaggery and salt. Mix besan into tamarind water until its smooth. Add this to the dal as well.

Simmer the dal for 3 to 5 minutes and finish it with a tadka of peanuts and hing. Your Muddhey Palya is ready!
