Hamas has said it is no longer interested in ceasefire negotiations with Israel, a day after Tel Aviv approved plans to scale up military operations in Gaza. Israel’s new plan has sparked international condemnation, with the UN voicing alarm and urging an end to the violence. A senior Hamas official told AFP there was no point in more talks or proposals, if Israel does not end the “hunger war and the extermination war”. Blake Sifton reports from Tel Aviv.
