SINGAPORE: The Pink Moon still dazzled on Wednesday (Apr 24) night despite cloudy conditions over Singapore.

Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong shared a photo of the bright full moon framed by Housing Board blocks.

“Did you manage to catch the full Pink Moon tonight despite the cloudy sky?” he said on Facebook and Instagram.

“Did you know that the ‘Pink Moon’ was not named because it is pink in colour, but for the colour of spring flowers that bloom at this time of year?”

Despite its name, April’s full moon is not meant to be of a rosy hue.

It is actually named after the pink phlox wildflowers that bloom in North America in the early spring, the Science Centre Observatory (SCOB) of Singapore told CNA previously.
