SINGAPORE: The Punggol Digital District, an upcoming smart and sustainable business district, will be home to a 200-room hotel facing Coney Island, JTC said on Tuesday (Apr 30).

The hotel will be integrated within a business park tower that will be located along the eastern end of the district, JTC, the district’s planner and developer, told CNA.

The development, which could also take the form of a serviced residence, is expected to have a gross floor area of about 8,140 sq m, it added.

JTC said it had called for expressions of interest for the site, which has a 60-year tenure. This exercise, which was managed by real estate company JLL, closed at 1pm on Tuesday.

According to Urban Redevelopment Authority data published on Apr 26, JTC had approval to develop a 223-room hotel at Punggol Way as of the end of the first quarter of 2024.

The data also showed that JTC had approval to build a retail and office development at Punggol Way with 31,022 sq m of gross floor area for offices and 26,865 sq m of gross floor area for retail use.

Both projects are set to be completed in 2024.

The Punggol Digital District will open progressively from the second half of this year.

“Designed as a vibrant ecosystem, the 50-hectare district will include retail, dining and lifestyle amenities for the business and academic community, as well as the surrounding residents in Punggol,” JTC said.

The district will also be home to the new campus of the Singapore Institute of Technology as well as a UOB technology and innovation centre.
