A wave of anti-Asian hate crimes continues to affect people across the United States, with an estimated one in five Asian Americans in New York City experiencing physical attacks or assaults last year. Donald Trump’s comments on the COVID-19 virus during the pandemic in 2020 fuelled anti-Asian violence, and with the former president seeking a return to the White House, there are fears the discriminatory attacks could get worse.
