Israel appearing to downplay tensions with the US, after Washington confirmed halting an arms shipment to its ally last week, over fears of an escalation in Gaza’s Rafah city. The Israeli military has reiterated that both sides share a close partnership. Israel’s push into Rafah has raised global concerns over the fate of one million Palestinians sheltering there. A full-strength round of truce talks is being held in Cairo today, with delegations from Israel, Hamas, US, Qatar and Egypt. Sarah Coates reports from Tel Aviv.
